2026 Fireworks Display

Wix Parish Council regrets to announce that the fireworks display provisionally scheduled for Saturday 7 November 2026 will no longer take place.

This decision was formally ratified at an Extraordinary Meeting of Wix Parish Council held on 17 September 2026.

Unfortunately, the display cannot go ahead this year as the Parish Council does not have a sufficiently large team of suitably qualified and experienced personnel to safely manage the event.

In addition, the popularity of the Wix fireworks display has continued to grow year on year. As a result, the event has now outgrown the current venue, creating additional challenges in relation to crowd numbers and the safe management of the event.

The safety of everyone attending, as well as those involved in organising and running the display, must remain the Council's highest priority. Having carefully considered the arrangements and requirements necessary to hold the event safely, the Parish Council does not believe that the required safety standards can be met this year.

We fully appreciate that the Wix fireworks display is a much-loved event within the local community and that its cancellation will be disappointing to many residents. This has not been a decision taken lightly.

The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has supported the event over the years, including the volunteers, organisers, local residents and businesses who have helped make the display such a successful community occasion.

The Council will continue to consider whether there are alternative options that could allow a fireworks event to return to Wix in the future, subject to suitable arrangements, facilities and appropriate safety measures being in place.
